Treatment Philosophy

I believe that pain free body movement is paramount for both physical and mental health. We interact with the world through our hands and my goal is to work with you to develop an individual treatment plan to match your goals and lifestyle - whether that be athletic competition, weekend warrior activities, or pain free day to day activities. While I specialize in surgery of the upper extremity, I believe many conditions can be treated without surgery. However, if surgery is in your best interest and aligns with your goals, I am broadly trained in the latest techniques and minimally invasive options. I will keep you moving to enjoy all that Colorado has to offer!

  • About Me

Dr. Will Freking is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. Originally from Minnesota, he was drawn to Colorado for the active outdoor lifestyle and everything the mountains have to offer. He graduated with high distinction from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with degrees in Kinesiology and Biology. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked designing medical devices for 2 years prior to going to medical school. Some of the devices he helped design are used today for drug delivery. He then attended the University of Minnesota for both medical school and orthopedic surgery residency. During residency, traveled to Honduras providing orthopedic surgical care with One World Surgery, an organization that he remains active with today. Following residency, he furthered his surgical training with a hand and upper extremity fellowship at the renowned Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center where he gained extensive experience in complex and common hand and upper extremity disorders, and training with the latest advances in limb restoration. His research has included studying infection rates and reducing medical costs in surgery, both of which he remains passionate about in his practice. Outside of work, he can be found golfing, skiing, hiking, scuba diving, and exploring Colorado with his girlfriend and French bulldog.
